Learning Bahasa Indonesian

It's time to be proactive and start learning Bahasa Indonesia as twelve of us will be going to Borneo very soon.

In my opinion, the best way to learn a new language is to practice with a native speaker. I took some private lessons before working in Indonesia a few years ago and it helped a big deal.

In the mean time, there are some good books, CDs and online resources available to learn.

To get you started I would recommend the following websites:

I picked up on the basics whilst in Sumatra... It's a really easy/simple language to learn.

Yes, start to learn Indonesian Language is a good way to start the relationship with local community.

Start with simple sentences, etc :
"Apa kabar ?" = How are u ?
"Selamat Pagi" = Good Morning
"Terima kasih" = Thank you
"Selamat datang" = welcome.

Indonesian natives like foreigners who can speak Indonesian Language. At first, they will laugh or smile at you, but it's ok, it means they start to like you.

Hi guys,

A few weeks ago I also bought a little book Bahasa Indonesian and I like to learn the language : )I had an Indonesian boyfriend for 7 years, so I knew some little words already : )
