About Me

I am here because I am passionate about global education. To me, global education is about increasing the awareness of the interconnectedness of our lives across borders and recognizing that global citizenship is the moral responsibility of every person around the world. I am particularly interested in environmental education and education for participatory democracy. I feel that our current school system does not do enough to ensure that youth get what they need in order for them to become the global citizens they all can be. TIG begins to bridge this gap, and I am thrilled to be a part of this movement as the TIGed Program Manager.

I am a Toronto native and a city girl at heart. I love the vibrancy and constant buzz of Toronto, and am always glad to come home after travelling. I do love to travel though, and have been fortunate enough to visit a few beautiful countries in Europe, and to live in Ecuador for six months. I attended the University of Toronto and earned an HonBA with a major in English Literature and minors in Social and Cultural Anthropology and Religious Studies. More recently, I obtained my Masters degree in Education from Brock University, a great school in the Niagara Region of Ontario. My research centred on the globalization of higher education systems around the world.

I love being active and attend yoga and other fitness classes regularly. I love to read novels by authors from all around the world, and I love to spend time with my family.

I sit on the Board of Directors at Pueblito, an international development agency that supports the local development of health care, child care and education in Latin America. Visit them here: http://www.pueblito.org/.

Thanks for reading!
